Schalmont 5th grade classes enjoyed a visit from local author James Preller last week who shared how he wrote some of his children’s books and encouraged students to write their own stories!
Mr. Preller discussed how he comes up with ideas for books and challenged students to come up with their own plot twists that would make compelling stories.
Mr. Preller also challenged the idea of “writing what you know”, sharing with students how he researches and learns about things that interest him that make his stories more compelling.
“You don’t just have to ‘write what you know’. Write what you want to know,” he told students.
Thank you Mr. Preller for visiting and inspiring our students! #sabrepride
