Schalmont senior Spencer Schrom joined other Career and Technical Education students Thursday for a National Signing Day, where he signed a letter of intent to put his Welding and Metal Fabrication skills to use for BPI Piping, a local mechanical contractor.

Similar to Signing Days for athletes who commit to play college sports, the Signing Day held at Capital Region BOCES celebrated soon-to-be graduates who plan to use the trade skills they learned in careers. Employers joined students for the celebration, with a representative from the Waterford company sitting next to Spencer as he signed his letter of intent.
