Senior Joins CTE Signing Day

Senior signs letter at table

Schalmont senior Nicholas Decker joined other Career and Technical Education students Tuesday for a National Signing Day, where he signed a letter of intent to work for his family’s business Decker’s Pondscapes.

Similar to Signing Days for athletes who commit to play college sports, the Signing Day held at Capital Region BOCES celebrated soon-to-be graduates who plan to use the trade skills they learned in careers. Employers joined students for the celebration, with Decker’s Pondscapes CEO Alan Decker proudly sitting next to his son watching him sign his letter of intent.

Nicholas explained he chose the Diesel Technology program because the skills will be useful for the family’s Pattersonville business, which specializes in landscaping projects with ponds and other water features.

Congratulations, Nicholas!
