DAV Members Visit Jefferson

Ms. Pink’s 1st graders learned about the importance of Memorial Day and how to treat the American flag respectfully last week thanks to two visitors from a local Disabled American Veterans chapter!

Guests Patty Montone and Walter Schlegel were beyond impressed about what students knew about the flag, including what the stars, stripes and the colors represent.

Mrs. Montone and Mr. Schlegel also answered questions from students about Memorial Day, with a few students mentioning late grandparents who had served.

“That’s why we have Memorial Day, so we can remember people like your grandpa,” Mrs. Monton reassured a student.

Thank you so much for visiting Jefferson and sharing with our students! #sabrepride
