Schalmont’s Board of Education met Monday night for its regular meeting. Here is a summary.

• Superintendent Dr. Thomas Reardon discussed the district’s Capital Project, which our community will vote on Thursday, October 15. Dr. Reardon explained that now that the first week of school is complete, Schalmont will begin sharing more information about the Capital Project, including a newsletter mailed to all homes in early October. Dr. Reardon also shared a video about the project, which is available here.
• The Board approved Connor Leddick as a long-term Business Education substitute for the High School. Mr. Leddick is already familiar to many of our students as he previously substitute taught for Schalmont. Welcome, Connor!
• The Board accepted the retirement of Kim Scholer, Head Custodian at Woestina Elementary. “Kim will be retiring on November 2nd after 30 years of service to Schalmont, working as both a Cleaner and Teacher Aide at the MS/HS prior to her move into a leadership position. We wish Kim nothing short of the best of luck as she begins this well-deserved next chapter!” wrote Dr. Reardon.
• The Board appointed Custodian Lesvia Donis to succeed Ms. Scholer at Woestina. “One of our internal candidates will fill this vacancy, having also worked her way up through the Schalmont system. Lesvia Donis has been a natural leader in our custodial staff, and will be transitioning into this role mid-October, thus allowing for a smooth transition at our Pre-K. It is always exciting to see our own Sabres continue to grow their careers at Schalmont,” wrote Dr. Reardon.
