The Board of Education met last night for its regular meeting. Here is a summary.

• Principal Scott Ziomek and Assistant Principal Julie Umar presented on the importance of engagement at Schalmont Middle School, including a focus on attendance, family involvement, and creating opportunities for students. The presentation is available here.
• The Board appointed Linda Kovel as an Academic Intervention Services Teacher to fill a short-term leave at Jefferson Elementary. Mrs. Kovel retired in 2020 after teaching for nearly 30 years at Jefferson. Thank you and welcome back, Mrs. Kovel!
• The Middle School FACS program provided desserts to the Board of Education to thank them for serving the Schalmont community in honor of School Board Recognition Week.
