Senior Carter Flowers was honored Thursday for bringing Schalmont its 1st ever State Championship in Cross Country as a banner immortalizing his accomplishment was added to the High School gym wall.

As family, friends and teammates watched, Coach John George shared Carter’s remarkable achievements that also include two Colonial Council Championships and Schalmont school records in the 800, 1600, 3200 and 5K.

Describing him as a “force of nature” who “leads not just with his feet and legs but with his heart”, Mr. George praised Carter for always being a mentor to his teammates, a leader who lifts others up, and a friend to all.

“This is a special day for Schalmont athletics and for our entire community,” said Mr. George. “Carter, your name will hang in this gym as a symbol of what’s possible when talent and work ethic come together. You make us all proud, not just as a Champion but as a remarkable young man.”

Congratulations, Carter! #sabrepride
