Congratulations to recent Schalmont alum Brooke Howlan ’26 who is the first High School Sabre ever honored as a Scholastic Award Recipient by the Capital District Sports Women of the Year organization!
Each year, the organization honors 10 of “the best and brightest female student athletes” from Capital District high schools. Brooke was named a 2026 Scholastic Award Recipient for her achievements in academics, athletics, and community service.
Brooke is the first Schalmont High School student-athlete honored with the award. She earned High Honors for every quarter of her High School career and was a member of the Science, Spanish and National Honor Societies.
Brooke was a three-sport athlete in bowling, softball and volleyball. She was honored as Section Bowler of the Year and was a five-time Colonial Council League 1st team selection. Brooke also was a 1st team selection in softball for her final three seasons. She had 36 career varsity pitching wins, 399 strikeouts, and hit over .400 in each of her last three seasons.
Brooke also is greatly involved in community service, including serving as Youth Leader for the U.S. Bowling Congress, working with the Rotterdam Community Center Pantry, and helping through numerous volunteer opportunities.
Congratulations, Brooke! We are so proud of all your accomplishments and the pride you always showed in representing Schalmont. A true Sabre in every way. #sabrepride
