Student Shares Braille With Classmates

Jefferson Elementary 3rd grader Lucas recently took the lead teaching an introductory lesson to his classmates about braille after they showed interest in the writing system he uses.

Teacher Mrs. Wood explained Lucas has become very fluent in braille and his classmates were very curious about it. Lucas showed them the basic alphabet and the more complex contractions. He even gave them the challenge to read a story in braille and then to figure out what the story was.

“On top of this, he also shared a variety of his learning tools that he uses to complete his work in braille the same way his classmates use their pencils,” said Mrs. Wood. “He captivated his audience and created so much excitement about the topic. It was a fun morning!”

Awesome job, Lucas!
