The Board of Education met January 25 for its regular meeting. Here is a summary.
- Superintendent Dr. Thomas Reardon shared “This Is Schalmont,” a presentation about the district’s pivot from Profile of a Graduate concepts to what our students are learning and accomplishing. Dr. Reardon explained the district wants to highlight the 21st century skills students are learning, such as teamwork and technology literacy, through student stories. - Assistant Superintendent for Business Joseph Karas gave a brief overview of the Governor’s recent state aid projections. The aid projections maintain Foundation Aid, the largest category of state aid that supports general education programming, at the previous year’s level. A presentation is available here.
- The Board of Education started the process of selling the district’s old bus garage now that the new Transportation Center is fully operational.
- The Board of Education approved district policies as part of an ongoing review to ensure policies are up-to-date. The updated policies are available here.
