The Board of Education met October 13 for its regular meeting. Here is a summary.
- Assistant Superintendent for Business Joseph Karas provided an update on the district’s budget and the impact of state aid reductions and district costs associated with COVID-19 precautions. Mr. Karas said finances are largely in line with the district’s 2020-2021 budget projections but the district will have to wait to see how deep proposed state aid cuts in November will be. He noted grant funding from the federal CARES Act has been helpful. Presentation available here.
- The Board appointed Chenya D’Arcangelis as a part-time Music Teacher for the Middle School and Caroline Hampton as a part-time Special Education Teacher.
- The Board of Education said it was impressed with the new Transportation Center, which they toured before the meeting. The facility was part of the most recent Capital Project.
The next Board of Education meeting will be Tuesday, October 30 at 7:00 p.m. We will share details about how the public can join virtually closer to the meeting date.
