The Board of Education met June 21 for its last meeting of the school year. Here is a summary.
- Superintendent Dr. Thomas Reardon and the Board of Education thanked students, parents, faculty, staff and administration for everything they have done over the past year to not only remain open during the pandemic but make 2020-2021 a productive year. “It’s been 40 weeks and Schalmont has remained strong,” said Dr. Reardon.
- The Board approved tenure for High School Assistant Principal Nicole Martyn. Congratulations, Ms. Martyn!
- The Board approved the following new hires for 2021-2022: Justine Buckley (Speech Language Pathologist), Laura Shrepper (Middle School Counselor), Elizabeth Tetlak (High School Vocal Music Teacher), Hannah Wilcox (Occupational Therapist) and Ashley Williams (High School/Middle School Art Teacher). - As part of a plan to increase the assistant principals’ leadership roles, the Board approved changing the assistant principal positions from 11-month to 12-month to allow Ms. Grabicki, Ms. Martyn and Ms. Judge additional time to lead in areas such as curriculum development, special education oversight and grades 3-8 testing.
The next Board of Education meeting will an organizational meeting on Monday, July 12 at 7:00 p.m. We will share details about how the public can join virtually closer to the meeting date.
