Dear Pre-K Families,
Happy (almost) Fall! It’s hard to believe we are moving into our third week of school! We couldn’t be more excited to have your children, who will forever be known as Schalmont’s first class of Pre-K students!
We are very excited to provide a Fall field trip opportunity! Dellavale Farm (783 Pattersonville Road, Pattersonville, NY 12137) has offered us the chance to visit their farm, and we would like to do so as a whole school student-family field trip. Our visit is scheduled for Wednesday, October 22nd at 10:00 a.m. and should last approximately two hours. Students (accompanied by their families) will have the opportunity to explore the farm and, for $5.00, take home a pumpkin of their choice!
Please note that this is a whole school field trip, and, because all children must be accompanied by their family, our regular school day at the Woestina School (including before and after care) will be cancelled, as our entire staff will be chaperoning the trip. Families are welcome to supervise other children, but these arrangements must be made between families (i.e. one family agrees to take another child from the program and serve as their chaperone). We will meet as a group at the entrance to the farm on the day of the field trip. Please plan to pack snacks for your child. If you have any questions about this trip, please don’t hesitate to reach out to me or your child’s teacher. If you are unable to attend this experience and will be keeping your child home for that day, please let us know as soon as possible. This will be a lot of fun!
Our Pre-K students will also be visited by our 5th grade students once a month, with their first visit on September 29th at 9:30 a.m. We are so excited to foster mentor relationships!
We are also pleased to welcome the Rotterdam Junction Fire Department, who will be joining our students on Thursday, October 9th during the school day to teach our children about fire safety. Students will have the chance to see our local firefighters in their full gear and a trip outside to see a fire truck. We are very thankful to our volunteer fire fighters for their community support.
Should you have any questions, please know we are here to help! Please don’t hesitate to reach out! We look forward to seeing you on Thursday, October 16 at 6:00 p.m. for Open House!
Sincerely,
Dr. Thomas Reardon
Superintendent/Pre-K Program Leader
