The Schalmont Friends of Music organization is made up of families and friends of students who are enrolled in the music program within Schalmont schools. Our primary goal is to help provide opportunities for students beyond those normally offered within the school curriculum that will enhance each child’s musical experience.
All our meeting dates are posted on the district calendar. We welcome your participation and support.
Letter from Schalmont Friends of Music
Thank you for encouraging your student to be part of the Schalmont Music Department! Our program is designed to foster the development of lifelong listeners, learners and lovers of music. It is with this in mind that we reach out to you as a parent and as an invested member of the school community.
We are actively seeking motivated parents to become involved in our Friends of Music organization and we’d like you to consider joining the group or becoming an officer. The Friends of Music is our
support system for providing all the extras that create a well-rounded musical experience for our students.
In the last few years, the Friends of Music has helped us with:
- Funding/Organizing/Chaperoning trips to Broadway musicals
- Hosting NYSSMA Solo Festivals
- Funding/Chaperoning Music in the Parks Field Trip
- Commissioning music from world-renowned composers
- Marching Band Parades and uniform cleaning
- Chaperoning Concerts and creating Department Newsletter
- Fundraisers for Scholarships for Music Seniors
- Christmas Caroling in local neighborhoods to donate to Schenectady City
- Mission
- Providing food for music events
This list could be even longer because the organization does so much for us and we are extremely grateful for their dedication to the music students at Schalmont. So, if you’re looking to positively impact an area of the school your child participates in, please consider attending a meeting and helping us further these experiences for the music students here at Schalmont!
