Three HS Students Positive for COVID-19

Dear Schalmont families,

We want to inform our community we learned today (February 12) that three High School students (one remote learner and two in-person learners) have tested positive for COVID-19.

We have already contacted families who the Schenectady County Department of Health advised us should quarantine their children as a precaution. The school will remain open for instruction as closing our school is not recommended.

Please know that the health and safety of your children is our top priority. We thank the tireless efforts of the county Health Department for their continued guidance and help.

We will continue to email families each time a case requires students to quarantine as nearly two-thirds of families said they would like to get an email each time in our recent survey. Thank you everyone for your feedback; it was quite helpful.

If you have any questions at all please make sure to contact us. You can contact me (treardon@schalmont.net or 518-355-9200 ext. 4001), Principal Matt Heckman (mheckman@schalmont.net or 518-355-6110 ext. 3002), or School Nurse Coordinator Tara Bush (tbush@schalmont.net or 518-355-6110 ext. 3041).

Thank you and be well,

Dr. Thomas Reardon
Superintendent
