Students Practice Mindfulness in Nature

A class of 6th graders enjoyed an opportunity to get outside Friday to practice mindfulness in nature.

Teacher Kacie Sandbrook explained students often practice mindfulness in class but she thought she would try it outside after recently attending a mindfulness in nature workshop through the New York State Master Teacher program.

“We practice mindfulness to help us be present in the moment, relax and improve our ability to focus,” Ms. Sandbrook reminded her students.

Students were encouraged to focus on a sound or picture themselves in a specific spot in nature to help them relax and be present.
