SHS students learn about vascular health

Schalmont was one of 19 local schools participated in V-Healthy Day, a day devoted to teaching students about the importance of maintaining a healthy vascular system.

Members from the Center for Vascular Awareness, Vascular Health Partners of Community Care Physicians, P.C. and Community Care Physicians, P.C. are visiting with different classes to teach students the effects of hypertension, diabetes, obesity, smoking and genetics on their vascular health.

Students learned how to use sphygmomanometers to take blood pressure, and even handled medical equipment including some of the stents, balloons, and wires used during procedures.
