Dear Schalmont families,
I would like to reassure our community that Schalmont schools will open as scheduled on Monday, January 4 as we continue our in-person and hybrid learning.
Please know we understand families may be concerned about the number of COVID-19 cases in our region. But after a meeting this weekend with superintendents and county Health Department officials from across the Capital Region, we have decided to join most other districts in opening school Monday.
We will continue to work with our Health Department partners and follow their guidance. If we need to temporarily move to full remote instruction for all our students due to Health Department concerns or staffing challenges, we will give families as much notice as possible.
If you have concerns about your child returning to school, please contact your child’s principal. We want to hear from you and answer any questions you may have.
Please know Schalmont schools will continue to follow all the health and safety precautions that have helped schools be a safe place for students. This includes mask wearing, social distancing, additional hand sanitizers, and enhanced cleaning and disinfecting of schools and buses. As a reminder, if your child is sick or has potentially been exposed to COVID-19, please err on the side of caution and keep them home.
As always, we thank our families for their help and support. This is a concerning time for all families but hopefully by joining together to do everything we can for our students we will all be able to enjoy a healthier 2021.
