On September 24, Schalmont administrators were notified that the New York State School COVID-19 Dashboard indicates a positive case has been reported within the district. However, at this time the district is not aware of any students or staff members who have tested positive for COVID-19.
District officials have been in contact with the Schenectady County Department of Health, which was able to confirm that they also had no such reported cases on record.
Since Sept. 9, the district has been submitting required reporting data to the state, which includes student and staff information relating to daily attendance, absences, suspected COVID-19 symptoms and testing results. County health officials have verified all data submitted by the district to date.
We have reached out to the New York State Department of Health for further clarification of the data appearing in the state’s dashboard.
“Nothing is more important than keeping our students and staff safe, especially during these times,” said Schalmont Superintendent Thomas Reardon. “I remain committed to open, transparent communication with our community. If, at any point in the future, we do have a confirmed case of COVID-19 in our school community, I will communicate that information directly to our families and our Schalmont staff.”
