SAA contract provides savings while benefitting members

The Board of Education and the Schalmont Administrators Association have reached a three-year agreement that both parties believe is fair and fiscally responsible to Schalmont taxpayers.

The contract is effective July 2017 through June 2020, and contains provisions that will result in significant savings, says Superintendent Dr. Carol A. Pallas.

In the new agreement, assistant principals are reduced from12- to 11-month employees, and a new salary schedule for the athletic director position has been instituted.

SAA members will now be required give six-months’ notice for retirement, which will allow the district plan for financial stability.

“This was a very collaborative negotiation process,� said SAA President and Jefferson Elementary Principal Joby Gifford. “We appreciate the willingness of the Board of Education and administration to recognize the value of the members of the Schalmont Administrators Association, and to come to an agreement that benefits our members while remaining financially responsible to the Schalmont community.�
