football team gathered together at cancer walkSabre football players make strides for cancer

The Schalmont boys varsity football team raised more than $3,000 at the Making Strides Breast Cancer Walk on October 15 in Washington Park.

The players took time from their demanding schedules to dedicate a whole day to raise $3,167 for cancer research. The cause is a dear one for a number of players on the team whose family members are battling various forms of the disease.

“We couldn’t be prouder of the team,� said Superintendent Dr. Carol Pallas. “I understand how busy a student’s life can get, with sports and homework, and I think it speaks volumes about their character that they participated in this walk.�
