While we are home with our families, it seems that many of us are spending more time outdoors. Maybe you have always loved nature or maybe spending more time outside has made your appreciation grow. In either case, you might be looking for a way to show your appreciation. Earth day was established in 1970 as a day of education about environmental issues. The 50th anniversary of Earth Day will occur on April 22nd and is a perfect time to make your appreciation known.
To show how important the Earth is to you, we are asking all Schalmont Middle School Students, Families and Teachers to participate in our Earth Day 2020 Competition. Let us see the many varied talents of our Schalmont Middle School Family used to showcase how important the Earth is to us while highlighting environmental issues and projects that are being done to help.
The submitted work will be showcased on our Environmental Club website at https://sites.google.com/schalmont.net/schalmont-environmental-club/home.
Prize money will be donated by the Schalmont Middle School Environmental Club in the amount of $1 per entry. This means, the more people who enter, the more prize money that will be awarded. The prize money will be awarded after your teachers vote for which entries best embody the spirit of Earth Day.
Your work should be of your own creation and celebrate the Earth, environmental causes, Earth Day or nature in general. To enter, please submit an original work of art, writing (essay, poetry, song), video, or any other project to the Google Form at https://forms.gle/xvXZVNiGXsuyq5Hd7 by April 30th.
