Jefferson first graders had a visit from local journalist and author, John Gray. He read his latest children’s book “Keller’s Heart,” which is based on his rescue dog that is blind and deaf.
It is a story that teaches many lessons such as determination, compassion, and acceptance. John has been donating a portion of book sales to animal rescue organizations.
Book sales have generated approx $25,000 for donations.
Our students wore their “Together We Can Make a Difference” shirts to show that we all can demonstrate and teach the lessons learned from Keller’s book and story. The acceptance poster will hang in our hallway as a reminder for the students.
