Letter Regarding CDC & AAP Guidance

Dear Schalmont families,

We hope you are enjoying the summer and creating wonderful memories with your family and friends.

We want to update our Schalmont community after the Centers for Disease Control and American Academy of Pediatrics recently released guidance for schools.

School districts across New York are waiting to hear from the state Health Department, with guidance expected soon. We will let families know as soon as we know more. We talk with our county Health Department partners regularly and thank them for all their efforts over the past year and a half to keep our students, faculty and staff healthy and safe.

We are happy to share that we expect to be able to welcome all of our students back each day in the fall. With newer guidance allowing us to relax social distancing, hybrid learning should no longer be needed as Schalmont has room for all of our students. We thank our Facilities Department who have worked incredibly hard this summer to get our schools ready for the fall and please know they will continue the cleaning and sanitizing procedures that worked so well last year.

Again, we expect to share more information in the coming weeks as we receive Health Department guidance. Please continue to enjoy this summer and treasure the time with your family as next school year is still almost six weeks away. As we often said last year, “We Got This!”

Best wishes and please be safe.

Dr. Thomas Reardon
