JES Return to School Information

Dear Jefferson Families,

Welcome to the 2021-22 school year and all of the exciting learning opportunities that await your child!

Our first day of school for students in grades 1-4 is scheduled for Thursday, September 9. Kindergarten students and parents will visit Jefferson on Thursday, September 9 and Friday, September 10 during assigned blocks of time where they will meet their teacher and review aspects related to the start of the school year within their kindergarten classrooms. Kindergarten students will begin school on a full-time basis on Monday, September 13.

School begins at 8:45 a.m. each day. Any child arriving later than 8:50 a.m. should be brought to the Primary Office (accessed through the parking lot adjacent to Ford Avenue). Students will begin boarding the buses at 3:00 p.m. each day for dismissal. Please see here for directions for parents wishing to drop off or pick up their children each day. Please note that our dismissal procedures have been slightly modified from some correspondence sent out in mid-August.

All students will have their own Chromebook. Please fill out our Chromebook Agreement so that your child will have their device at the start of the school year.

All meals (lunch and breakfast) will be free for the 2021-22 school year. The menu for JES can be found on our website. To access, click on the Departments and Services link and you will find the menu on the Food Services webpage.

By this time, you should have received District correspondence detailing information regarding our school reopening plan. Please be advised that pursuant to state mandates and in accordance with Department of Health guidelines, all elementary students and staff will be required to wear a mask. Students will be permitted to take mask breaks throughout the day and masks will not need to be worn while the students are outside, enjoying recess. Please continue to refer to our District website as we will continue to update our plan as we receive additional guidance from the local Department of Health and the Governor’s office. We truly appreciate your support as our main goals are to keep students and staff safe while they are at school.

We are looking forward to a year filled with learning and lasting memories at JES! Please feel free to reach out to us if we may be of additional assistance.

Sincerely,

Mr. Gifford and Mrs. Grabicki
