Dear Schalmont CSD families,
We want to inform our community that we learned today (November 19) that one of our elementary students has tested positive for COVID-19.
We worked closely with the Schenectady County Department of Health today and have contacted all of the families of students who the Health Department determined should quarantine due to potential exposure. The Health Department will also follow up with those families. The school will remain open for instruction as closing our school is not recommended.
As this is the second confirmed case in two days for our district, I want to reassure our community that we are doing everything we can to keep our students, faculty and staff safe. The Health Department has told us they are impressed with our safety procedures and the steps we are taking each day to minimize potential exposure to COVID-19.
Please know that nothing is more important to us than the health and safety of your children. We continue to follow the recommendations of our county and state Health Departments and we thank them for their outstanding assistance during these challenging times.
