Curriculum that Matters: Intentional Alignment of K-12 English Language Arts Curriculum

Since the adoption of New York state’s Next Generation Learning Standards in September of 2017, Schalmont schools have been engaged in a phased implementation of a healthy and authentic curriculum with students and faculty in mind. The overarching goal remains to provide a comprehensive, cohesive, intentional and aligned curriculum that shows clear relationships between standards, instructional practice, and assessments and that enhances student learning K-12. On November 2019, Curriculum and Instruction officials presented their progress and next steps to the Board of Education.
