A holiday message from Superintendent Dr. Carol Pallas

Dear Parents and Guardians,

As the holiday break approaches, I wanted to take a moment to reflect upon the successes of the first few months of the school year.

We had a successful start to the year and wonderful Homecoming festivities that were enjoyed by many students and community members. Our middle school students honored area veterans, high school students raised money for hurricane relief, and our elementary students decorated Christmas bags for pediatric cancer patients. We came together to donate presents and money to the Giving Tree, which helped seven families right here in the Schalmont community.

And the generous members of the Schalmont Teachers' Association collected canned goods, gloves, and hats to be donated to the City Mission of Schenectady just before the holidays.

Of course, we have many academic achievements to celebrate, as well. The first quarter honor rolls were teeming with students, and we recently inducted 20 students into the National Honor Society!

The Schalmont community has plenty to be proud of this holiday season.

The upcoming year holds exciting challenges and opportunities for our district. In the coming months, as we anticipate the state budget and education aid runs, we will continue to prepare a responsible budget for the 2018-19 school year. A school budget affects us all – students, parents, teachers, and taxpayers - so I encourage you to join us at Board of Education and Budget Advisory Committee meetings.

On behalf of the Board of Education, and the staff and administration of the Schalmont Central School District, I wish you a happy, healthy, and safe holiday season.

Thank you for your commitment to our schools and to our community’s children.
Sincerely,

Dr. Carol A. Pallas
