football team gathered together at cancer walkSabre football players make strides for cancer

The Schalmont boys varsity football team raised more than $3,000 at the Making Strides Breast Cancer Walk on October 15 in Washington Park.

The players took time from their demanding schedules to dedicate a whole day to raise $3,167 for cancer research. The cause is a dear one for a number of players on the team whose family members are battling various forms of the disease.

“We couldn’t be prouder of the team,” said Superintendent Dr. Carol Pallas. “I understand how busy a student’s life can get, with sports and homework, and I think it speaks volumes about their character that they participated in this walk.”
