Forensics students determine 'When Did She Die?'

 Dec. 7, 2015

Forensics studentsIn Forensics class at Schalmont High School were recently tasked with deteriminte the time of death in a criminal case.

Students read police reports to determine the true time a victim's time of death, because what was in the report was incorrect due to external factors, such as air conditioning at the crime scene.

This activity follows Common Core themes for reading including: determining what the text says (to analyze the time of death); citing text evidence (to prove their analyses); making inferences (about what happened to the vicitm as they reconstruct the crime).

Students were also required to come up with a set of questions they have about possible circumstances surrounding the cirme based on what they know and don't know.
