Principal's Writing Contest winnersOct. 30, 2015

Schalmont Middle School Principal Linda Taylor decided to have a little fun this Halloween by challenging all fifth through eighth grade students to the first Principal’s Writing Challenge.

Students were asked to submit a one- to two-page creative writing response to the following prompt:

A film company is sponsoring a nationwide Halloween script-writing contest. Write a brief summary of your prize-winning movie plot.

“They were so scary, I couldn’t get to sleep,” Taylor said.

Three winners were chosen from each grade level based on originality, creativity and style.

The winners are:

Grade 5: Abigail Batchler, Zoe Jarrard, and  Chloe Buckton

Grade 6: Molly Montgomery, Conner Brown and Emma Woodrow

Grade 7: Nick Willett, Mya Taite and Noah Paddock

Grade 8: Luke Keith, Olivia Santabarbara and Islan Miller

Congratulations to the winners and great job to all those who participated!
