Reserve your materials now for Oct. 26 college financial aid seminar

Parents of high school students are encouraged to attend a financial aid seminar hosted by the high school guidance department on Monday, Oct. 26, at 6:30 p.m. in the high school auditorium.

The primary objective of the seminar, titled "College Financial Aid: How to Get Your Fair Share" is to disseminate information to parents that will enable them to make the financial aid process as cost-effective as possible. The presenter, Peter V. Laurenzo, is founder and president of College Aid Planning Associates, Inc. and author of the book, College Financial Aid: How to Get Your Fair Share.

Topic discussions include:

  • A conceptual understanding of the finanical aid process; facts versus myths.

  • The financial aid application process.

  • The impact of parental and student assets.

  • How income affects aid eligibilty.

  • The single/divorced/remarried parents dilemma.

  • Dependent vs. independent.

  • The importance of deadlines.

  • Shopping for financial aid packages.

There is no fee for the seminar.
