Early Dismissals in October

Oct. 1, 2015

There will be a half-day of school on Friday, Oct. 2 for parent-teacher conferences for students in Kindergarten through fifth grade only. Fifth graders will be dismissed at 10:45 a.m. This is the first of four half days for Kindergarten through fifth graders. The other dates are Thursday, Oct. 8, Monday, Oct. 19 and Tuesday, Oct. 27.

On Friday October 9, Schalmont Central School District will conduct the annual Early Dismissal Drill as required by law. Each school will dismiss 15 minutes early on Friday October 9, 2015: Jefferson Elementary School will dismiss at 2:45 p.m. and the Middle School and High School will dismiss at 2 p.m. Students at the Middle and High School who are staying for after school activities on that day will report to the football bleachers. They will be let back into the buildings at 2:15 p.m. All other students in each school are to go home.

Students in grades 6-12 at Schalmont Middle School and High School will be dismissing early on WEDNESDAY, OCT. 14 at 12:45 p.m. Student health and safety is a priority for us at Schalmont Central School District. That is why our staff will be spending the afternoon of Oct. 14 working with licensed social workers specializing in expanding teachers’ understanding of the challenges mental disorders present to both students and staff and how to better meet the needs of these students within the classroom. This early dismissal will not affect after-school activities, nor does it affect students in grade 5 or Jefferson Elementary students, who will be dismissed according to the normal schedule. If you have any questions regarding this schedule change, please contact Jacqueline Gordon, Assistant Principal, at (518) 355-6110.
