Renowned educator to present to parents

Feb. 25, 2016

Alan November, a renowned international leader in educational technology, will be delivering a free presentation titled “Parents Survival Guide: Preparing All Kids to be Successful” on Thursday, March 10 from 6:30-8 p.m. in the Mohonasen LGI. The event is cohosted by Schalmont and Mohonasen school districts.

November, named as one of the nation’s 15 most influential thinkers of the decade by Technology and Learning Magazine, will help parents learn how to guide their children through potential pitfalls and navigate a successful path in today’s digital world. Topics include exploring the impact of social media on student behavior, how to have conversations about what is credible information, and the need for self-direction as part of higher education.

"Our kids are growing up in a digital age that is different from our childhood. Many children today have a communication and production device at their disposal which requires them to make decisions that could have long-term consequences on their lives. It is important that parents and educators assist and guide our future generation in making these decisions," said Bronson Knaggs, director of Curriculum and of Schalmont Teachers’ Institute.
