Public Affairs students present to Town Board

SUPA studentsThe Schalmont High School SUPA Public Affairs 101 class made a formal presentation to the Rotterdam Town Board last week.

After many months of research and interviews, the students completed an Administrative Study for the Rotterdam Town Board and the Rotterdam Police Departmen and, Under the direction of former Supervisor Harry Buffardi, completed a Staffing Analysis of the Rotterdam Police Department.

Along with the Administrative Study, the class also made policy recommendations to the newly elected Town Board, with the approval of current Supervisor Steven Tommasone.

The Administrative Study and the policy presentations are available to view on the Town of Rotterdam's website.

"The students did an excellent job and gave an excellent presentation" Schalmont teacher Karen Ryder said, adding a special thank you to SRO officer Patrick Farry, Principal Imran Abbasi, and Superintendent Carol Pallas for attending the meeting to watch and support our SUPA Public Affairs students.
