Schalmont Central School District offers a
variety of academic and non-academic programs during the summer.
Click on the links below for more information on learning opportunities that
can help your child stay active, both mentally and physically, while
on vacation.
Schalmont's summer school program offers
students the opportunity to retake courses which they were not
able to successfully complete during the regular school year.
Participating students may also retake a course to improve upon
an existing passing grade. Our seasoned, professional faculty
provide a positive learning environment to help encourage
students' success in all courses. Click on one of the links
below to learn more about a specific school's summer offerings.
Effective for the 2008-09 school year, all
students who wish to enroll in summer school
must earn a minimum final course average of
a 50. School transcripts will also include
more detailed information.

Description: This enrichment
program uses hands-on projects that integrate math and
science to help students develop their understanding of the
scientific method.
It is open to all incoming fourth- and fifth-grade students
in Schalmont. Participants work in groups to perform
experiments, come up with conclusions and make suggestions.
Though the program is mindful of state standards, it is
designed to be a fun exploration of math and science, and
not a duplication of school year curriculum. The video at
right is from the summer 2008 session of the program.
