To build greater understanding and support
for the district and school goals, plans and decisions, a new
shared-decision making plan was adopted in January 2010.
School level facilitation teams serve as a keystone to this new
plan. The teams are composed of administrators, teachers,
parents and support staff who are committed to working together
with community stakeholders to identify and implement school
improvements that help to increase student achievement.
Because communication is essential to this goal, the teams
encourage input from students, parents, and other teachers and
school staff by creating meaningful opportunities for these
stakeholders to get involved in school planning and
decision-making.
The team will provide leadership, guidance and support to
stakeholders as they work together to build consensus around
initiatives that serve the best interest of students. The team
will examine major areas of school level operations, such as
instruction, staffing, resources and/or parent/community
partnerships for any potential opportunities for improvement.
Team members will participate in five scheduled meetings
throughout the school year and any special meetings, as needed,
to make decisions and identify issues and concerns.
Subcommittees may also be formed and/or stakeholders may be
invited to attend meetings to provide additional information.
Meeting minutes and any supporting
materials will be posted on each school’s website and
distributed via e-mail.
