Schalmont Central School District programs,
resources and facilities are designed to foster a positive
learning environment for all students. The district serves
approximately 2,075 students from the towns of Rotterdam,
Princetown, Guilderland, Florida, and Duanesburg. Students in
grades 9-12 attend
Schalmont High School,
students in grades 5-8 attend
Schalmont Middle School,
and students in grades K-4 attend
Jefferson Elementary School.
Academics
Schalmont schools consistently meet and often
exceed state standards for
academic performance. As a result, most of those who
graduate from Schalmont High School go on to some form of higher
education. Many later become exceptional professionals, business
owners and community members, and several have been honored for
their achievements on the recently established
Schalmont High School Alumni
Wall of Distinction.
Beyond the Core Curriculum
Academics are at the heart of education, but
Schalmont students also have a variety of extracurricular
opportunities throughout their years in grade school. Many
extracurricular programs, such as the
Schalmont Math and
Science Summer Academy, expand the learning experience
beyond the classroom and offer unique, creative outlets for
expression. Schalmont also has produced numerous
Section
II Class B championship athletic teams, award-winning musicians,
accomplished artists, and civic-minded youth who volunteer
their time to help community members in need.
