- Woestina is
a "one-deep" school, meaning there is one class at each grade
level in kindergarten through grade 5.
- Our students are from the
hamlets of Rotterdam Junction, Pattersonville, and portions of
the Towns of Rotterdam and Princetown.
- Woestina offers students remedial
reading, math services, and special education services,
including speech and language therapy and physical and
occupational therapy and counseling.
- Educational services are
shared with other schools in the district, including librarians, art
teachers and physical
education teachers.
- Woestina has many active, involved
parents. For example, the Woestina Parent-Teacher
Organization (PTO)
provides the support, activities, and funding to allow the
school to maintain a motivating, high-quality program for
students.
- The purchase of playground
equipment, computer hardware, TVs, and DVDs have been
supported by the PTO.
- Activities such as our 5th grade’s
annual graduation ceremony, Parents as Reading Partners, and
Schenectady Theater for Children performances are all
supported by parents either directly or through the PTO.
-
School begins at 8:30 a.m., and dismissal is at 2:55
p.m.
