Woestina is
a "one-deep" school, meaning there is one class at each grade
level in kindergarten through grade 5.
Our students are from the
hamlets of Rotterdam Junction, Pattersonville, and portions of
the Towns of Rotterdam and Princetown.
Woestina offers students remedial
reading, math services, and special education services,
including speech and language therapy and physical and
occupational therapy and counseling.
Educational services are
shared with other schools in the district, including vocal and
instrumental music teachers, librarians, and art and physical
education teachers.
Woestina has many active, involved
parents. For example, the Woestina Parent-Teacher
Organization (PTO)
provides the support, activities, and funding to allow the
school to maintain a motivating, high-quality program for
students.
The purchase of playground
equipment, computer hardware, TVs, and DVDs have been
supported by the PTO.
Activities such as our 5th grade’s
annual graduation ceremony, Parents as Reading Partners, and
Schenectady Theater for Children performances are all
supported by parents either directly or through the PTO.
