photo of the girls' varsity soccer team and sign New sign recognizes team's achievement: Thanks to the Town of Rotterdam, the girls' varsity soccer team received a sign marking the district's first state title. It will be displayed in front of the high school. The team received a proclamation from Schenectady County and will also receive a resolution from the NYS Senate on Jan. 31 for their outstanding accomplishment.

Girls' varsity soccer team makes history: Congratulations to the girls varsity soccer team for being the first Schalmont team ever to bring home a New York state title! The girls finished a 23-0 season and won the Class B state championships with a 4-0 win over Greece-Odyssey High School on Nov. 20.

Students participate in all-state festival: Congratulations to the ten Schalmont students who were selected to participate in the New York State School Music Association Area All-State Music Festival, Nov. 18-19, in Saratoga. Danielle Attanasio, Troy Chakraborty, Jon Culbert, Abhy Dunn, Jason Lahraseb, Eric Murray, Melissa Narusky and Ariana Schrader-Rank participated in the chorus while Michelle Gallo played in the band and Laura Earls in the orchestra.

Tri-M Honor Society welcomes new members: Congratulations to the newest members of the Tri-M Honor Society: Danielle Attanasio, Olivia Desmond, Elizabeth Glick, Alyssa Hart, Jimmy Jaster, Nicholas Marotta, Melissa Narusky, Billy Ryder, Monica Shatley and Jillian Zaloga. The ten high school students were inducted into the group, which provides quality music at many events throughout the year, during a special ceremony on Nov. 1.

Local papers publish student letters: Check out the letters written by high school students Danielle Attanasio and Alissa Foster on the Occupy Wall Street Movement. They appeared in recent editions of the Times Union and Daily Gazette. Students wrote the editorials as part of the Current Affairs in the 21st Century course.

Disney, here we come! Thanks to the community's support, the high school marching band raised more than $5,000 at homecoming to help fund their trip to Florida later this year. The group held a fundraiser through Ford as well as a bake sale and car wash. View more homecoming photos...
