Both students have played
since they were very little. "I just grew up with it,"
said Viscusi, whose father played soccer at Schalmont
and grandfather coached a Rotterdam club league. He
hopes to continue to play once in college, where he
plans to pursue a degree in business administration.
The honor was particularly
special for Azzaro because it was for a role he didn't
originally intend on filling. Though he has played
soccer all four years of high school, this was his first
year as a goal keeper. "It's a big reward for stepping
up," he said.
Azzaro also comes from a
family of soccer players. Both of his sisters played the
sport, and his father coached all of them at some point
over the years. Besides the tradition, he has continued
to play because "it doesn't feel like practice. It feels
like getting together with friends."
After graduation this year,
Azzaro hopes to pursue a degree in biology and
eventually attend medical school.
