Congratulations
are in order! Schalmont High School senior Andrea Fortman
has earned the title of AP Scholar by receiving grades of
three or higher on three or more Advanced Placement exams
during the 2007-08 school year.
Fortman took AP classes in
English, history and java last year. This year, she is
taking one in calculus and hoping to earn the title of
AP Scholar with Honor.
"I like [the AP courses]
because you can have some good discussions. I like
meeting people who like learning," she said.
One of Fortman's favorite
classes this year is a sculpture independent study
class, but she hopes to major in environmental
engineering in college. She is participating in the
Project Lead the Way series of classes at the HS. Next
year, she hopes to attend Cornell University.
