Library Printing Service

Ever gone to print a major writing assignment at home and realized you're out of paper or ink? The Schalmont High School Library offers a student printing service to help solve just such a problem. A student who needs to print a document for class can e-mail it to The student must then go to the HS Library and ask the librarian to print out the document.

  • Lexis-Nexis Database (need username and password)
    Access more than 10,000 news, business, and legal sources. The outstanding news coverage includes deep back files and up-to-the-minute stories in national and regional newspapers, wire services, broadcast transcripts, international news, and non-English language sources. LexisNexis Academic contains information from a wide variety of sources.
  • Teachingbooks - (see librarian for home password)
    An easy-to-use website that adds a multimedia dimension to the reading experiences of children's and young adult books. The online database is developed and maintained to include thousands of resources about fiction and nonfiction books used in the K–12 environment, with every resource selected to encourage the integration of multimedia author and book materials into reading and library activities.
  • Grolier Encyclopedia: Includes access to three different encyclopedias—New Book of Knowledge, Grolier Multimedia Encyclopedia and New Book of Knowledge Encyclopedia—as well as online dictionaries and atlases.

  • Newsbank - (searchable database of New York and U.S. newspapers with full-text articles)
    The electronic editions of record for valuable local, regional, and national U.S. newspapers as well as full-text content of key international sources -- all in one easy-to-search database with a world map. Each provides unique coverage of local and regional news, including companies, politics, sports, industries, cultural activities, and people in the community, as well as a distinctive focus offering a variety of viewpoints on local and world issues.
  • The CQ Researcher -(may need username and password)
    Provides in-depth, non-biased coverage of today's most important issues. Each report is on a single topic with more than 12,000 words of text and extensive bibliographies. Each weekly issue provides up-to-date information on controversial subjects written by CQ's staff of experienced reporters.
  • LitFinder - includes Poem Finder, Story Finder and Essay/Speech/Play Finder for K-12 Schools
