Mr. Bailey has been employed at Schalmont for 19 years. He
is responsible for all ninth-graders (freshman) and shares the
10th-graders (sophomores)
with Mr. Loiacano. Mr. Bailey works with 10th-graders whose
last names begin with L-Z. His additional tasks in the
Guidance Office include serving as CTE liaison, military
services representative, NCAA representative, and as a
representative to the Schenectady County Chamber of
Commerce. He is also on the Admissions Advisory Committee at
Schenectady County Community College.
Mr. Bailey is very active in school sports. He
coached the Schalmont High School Varsity Boys Soccer Team from 1995-2008 and
now coaches the Scotia-Glenville Varsity Boys Soccer Team. While at Schalmont,
he led the Sabres to
seven Colonial Council Championships and back-to-back
Sectional championships in 2006 and 2007. In 2006, Mr. Bailey led
his team to league, sectional and regional titles. The Sabres
then earned a trip to the New York State Final Four at the
Soccer Hall of Fame in Oneonta, NY. Under Mr. Bailey's
leadership, the Sabres won three Section II Sportsmanship
Awards.
Mr. Bailey is a four-time recipient of the Section II Coach
of the Year Award and currently has the highest winning
percentage of all active Section II coaches, posting a
career record of 213-58-12. He also volunteers as an
announcer/scorekeeper/timer for the Schalmont wrestling and
boys basketball teams, chaperones dances, and supervises
lunches in school.
Outside of school, Mr. Bailey enjoys coaching and playing
soccer. He runs summer soccer camps and is involved with the
Highland Soccer Club at Maalwyck Park. He still competes as a
player in the Men’s Capital District League.
Mr. Bailey received his B.A. in Psychology and Public
Justice from SUNY Oswego and his M.S. in School Counseling
from the College of St. Rose. He was active in the
U.S. Army from 1986-1990, eventually obtaining the rank of
captain. He served as an infantry officer (Airborne/Ranger
Qualified) and was stationed in Bamberg, Germany, with the
7th Battalion, 6th Infantry Regiment, 1st Armored Division.
He and his wife, Shelly (a Schalmont Math teacher), have
three sons. They
enjoy water skiing, swimming and all sports.
Mr. Bailey states, “I am a parent/student advocate. I enjoy
helping others reach their academic and career goals with
effective communication and accurate information.”
Mr. Bailey’s office hours are 7:30—2:30 daily with after
