Introduction to Guidance Services
The Schalmont Guidance Offices are more than just a place for
students to learn about graduation requirements. Students can
also receive college and career advice, get the latest SAT and
ACT testing dates, and much more. Students should never hesitate
to contact their Guidance Counselor if they have questions.

Spring 2008
College Fair
Wednesday, May 7
2008
Hudson Valley
Community College
9:00 A.M. - noon and 6:00 P.M.
- 8:00 P.M.
The college fair is a great opportunity to explore a vast
variety of colleges in search of the one that is right for you.
Representatives from over 200 colleges will be attending.
There will be public and private, two-year and four year, large
and small, liberal arts, vocational colleges, and military
branches represented at the fair.
To take full advantage of this
opportunity, have a couple of questions ready to ask college
representatives. A few examples might be:
-
Does
the school have the academic program you are interested in?
-
What
kinds of sports teams/clubs/activities does the college
offer?
-
How
many students apply each year? How many are accepted?
-
What
technology is available?
-
What is
the student housing/dorm environment like?
-
Does
the college offer overseas programs, internships, or
independent-study?
-
How may
students are there per teacher?
-
How
many students in last year's freshmen class returned for the
sophomore year?
Remember,
these individuals may be admitting you into the college
that they represent. Don't forget to be polite and to
thank them for their time!
