Congratulations to the Schalmont High School Varsity MasterMinds Team on taking the top spot in the Albany Area League 2. They had 9 wins and 2 losses for a total of 1,865 points. The Varsity Team now will compete in the final round of games on Thursday, May 29, at 11:30 a.m. The competition will be broadcast on Time Warner Cable Channel 3.
 
Schalmont varsity team members include seniors Ally Badalucco, Nick Bove, Bart Comegys, Ryan McLoughlin, Tiffany Milano, Rebecca Siegel, and Al Tarquinio. This year, Comegys scored the highest points and Bove scored the second highest points of members from all five teams in Albany League 2. They were both named 2007-08 MasterMinds All-stars for their league. The other teams in Albany League 2 are Amsterdam, Broadalbin-Perth, Gloversville, and Mohonasen.
 
Junior varsity team members include sophomores Angela Bove, Monet Palmer, and Kaitlyn Perkins, and juniors Shelby Rorick, Pete Tricchinelli, and Erik Whalen.

MasterMinds is an academic competition that covers a variety of topics, such as art, biology, current events, history, literature, music, and sports. Varsity and junior varsity teams compete in tournaments throughout the year with hopes of making it to the final rounds broadcast on Time Warner Cable in the spring or summer.
