SENIOR BALL (June 6) AND SENIOR
BANQUET (May 30)
Both the Senior Ball and the Senior
Banquet are traditional celebrations concluding the senior
year. All seniors are reminded that these are
school-sponsored events and all of the handbook regulations
are in effect. The drug and alcohol regulations defined in
the School Board Policy will be stringently enforced. The
disciplinary actions resulting from a violation of these
policies or, even worse, the potential safety hazards
resulting from being under the influence of alcohol or drugs
could easily change a joyous event into a tragedy.
SENIOR PRANKS/ VANDALISM:
Senior pranks or vandalism will not be
tolerated. Students who participate in such actions will be
disciplined which could include an arrest, restitution and
removal from the graduation ceremony.
GRADUATION NOTES
GRADUATION
REHEARSAL, THURSDAY, JUNE 26: Students are to
assemble in Proctor’s Theatre at 1:00 p.m. Rehearsal will
take approximately one hour. All seniors should plan to
attend.
GRADUATION DAY, FRIDAY, JUNE 27:
Students are to be on Proctor’s balcony (second floor)
by 6:30 p.m. The procession will begin at 6:55 p.m.
in two lines proceeding to the first floor lobby.
CAPS AND GOWNS: Students are to
be dressed in cap and gown. The tassel on the cap is to be
worn over the right eye. Caps and gowns should be lightly
pressed with a warm (not hot) iron and look neat. Please do
not allow your student to decorate his/her cap and gown.
Any inappropriate additions on the cap, gown, or under the
gown may be cause for immediate removal from the graduation
ceremony.
DRESS: Please encourage your
student to dress appropriately. Males should wear dark
slacks, dress shirt and tie, along with dress shoes. Girls
should wear light colored clothing under the white gown.
BEHAVIOR: Please remind your
student to behave in a manner appropriate to the occasion.
Caps should not be thrown because they may cause injury.
OBLIGATIONS: All debts must be
taken care of prior to graduation. This includes paying for
lost books, damages, fees, etc. Mrs. Lawson (355-6110, ext.
3001) in the main office can assist your student with
clearing up accounts. If in doubt, please ask.
GUESTS: Guests do not need
tickets for admission. You may invite as many guests as you
wish. Guests are to be seated by 6:55 p.m. Guests arriving
after that time will be asked to wait in the lobby until the
procession is complete. Guests are asked not to stand in
the back of the theater. Once you arrive, please take a
seat. If you are expecting a guest or family member who is
confined to a wheelchair, please notify Mrs. Tygert in the
main office (355-6110, ext. 3028) by June 2nd so
that special accommodations may be made. If you can furnish
the number or guests in your party, every effort will be
made to arrange adjacent seating. However, if your party is
very large, this may not be possible.
DIPLOMAS: On stage seniors will
receive a diploma cover only. The actual diploma should be
picked up at the end of the evening behind Proctor’s at
tables set up for this purpose. Students will be able to
keep the cap, gown and tassel. Students receiving
honor/activity cords must pay $5 each for any cords they
wish to keep. This amount may be paid when the diploma
is picked up, or cords may be returned at the diploma
table.

and gowns will be distributed beginning June13 from the main
office. The cost is $25. Checks may be made out to
Schalmont High School.
AWARDS: If your student was
given an award that was not recognized at Schalmont High
School’s Award Ceremony, please notify Mrs. Tygert so that
every effort can be made to include recognition for the
award in the graduation program insert.
If you have any questions regarding
Graduation 2008, please call Mrs. Tygert at 355-6110, ext.
