Key Club activities for this year
include:
Mentor Program
In its fifth year, the mentor program is becoming a traditional
Key Club program. Each year high school Key Club members get
paired up with students from the Jefferson Elementary School to
help with their homework and outside activities. The mentors,
the Key Clubbers, and the elementary school students not only
meet on a regular basis after school every other Monday but also
enjoy sharing time outside of school. The mentor program is an
excellent way for students to bond and make a lasting and
positive impact on the young elementary school students.
Adopt-A-Grandparent
Adopt-A-Grandparent is a relatively new project that was
launched in October of 2002. This activity focuses more on
building relationships with senior citizens. This program was
previously held at the Hallmark Nursing Center in Rotterdam but
is currently taking place at the Omni Senior Assisted Living
Center in Guilderland. Once a month, Key Clubbers visit the
center and engage in games and craft activities with the
residents. This activity is a great way for students and the
elderly to get together and share experiences.
Cabaret
Cabaret is a Key Club production that includes jazz and musical
entertainment along with a formal dinner. Proceeds from the
Cabaret go towards a Key Club cause such as raising money to
help with the local community’s needs.
District Convention
The District Convention is a three-day program that allows Key
Club members to truly understand the spirit of Key Club. It is
also a chance for officer-elects to be acquainted with their
positions and role in Key Club. Along with elections and
seminars, the convention includes fun events such as water polo,
yoga lessons, and other social activities. As many Key Clubbers
will agree, the District Convention is an amazing and unique
experience.
