September 6, 2011—In preparation for the new school year, the
district's collection drive for victims of Tropical Storm Irene
is being moved to the former Woestina Elementary School
building.
Thanks to the generosity of the entire Schalmont school community,
a variety of clothing, household
items, cleaning supplies, toiletries, first-aid supplies and
non-perishable food is available.
The items are being made available to Schalmont
families, students, staff and businesses who have been
temporarily displaced from their homes following Tropical Storm
Irene, which caused severe flooding and damage throughout
Schenectady and Schoharie counties.
Schalmont community members are encouraged to
visit Woestina to pick-up needed supplies (see schedule below).
Donations are no longer being accepted except
for gift cards and cleaning supplies.
If you will be in need of
furniture or are able to donate furniture, please contact
Chris Gallo at
518-214-4010. She will be maintaining a list of furniture to be
donated. Once individuals are ready to accept such items, they
will be contacted so arrangements can be made for pick-up or
delivery.
Thank you again to everyone who donated items
or volunteered their time to this worthy cause. Your efforts
will make an immediate difference in the lives of so many
Schalmont families.
Distribution site moves to Woestina
