September 3, 2011—Thanks to the generosity of the entire Schalmont school community, Jefferson Elementary School's
cafeteria is jam-packed with a variety of clothing, household
items, cleaning supplies, toiletries, first-aid supplies and
non-perishable food.
The items are being made available to Schalmont
families, students, staff and businesses who have been
temporarily displaced from their homes following Tropical Storm
Irene, which caused severe flooding and damage throughout
Schenectady and Schoharie counties.
Schalmont community members are encouraged to
visit Jefferson Elementary School over the next few days to pick-up needed supplies (see schedule below).
Due to the overwhelming response to the drive,
we will no longer be accepting donations. The
cafeteria is at maximum capacity. However, monetary gift cards
(American Express, Visa, WalMart, Price Chopper, Hannaford etc.)
are still being accepted.
If you will be in need of
furniture or are able to donate furniture, please contact
Chris Gallo at
518-214-4010. She will be maintaining a list of furniture to be
donated. Once individuals are ready to accept such items, they
will be contacted so arrangements can be made for pick-up or
delivery.
Thank you again to everyone who donated items
or volunteered their time to this worthy cause. Your efforts
will make an immediate difference in the lives of so many
Schalmont families.
